As Urban educators, we’re always trying to find strategies and solutions for our ever-changing programs. 19-year educator, Dr. Jack A. Eaddy, Jr., developed a band program that was highly decorated and recognized in spite of the many challenges his students experienced. Dr. Eaddy’s passion is to help build Urban programs, and he has presented nationally on teaching in Title I schools. Tales From the Band Room covers tips and tricks, as well as insight from other educators, learned while teaching in Title 1 schools. In each episode Dr. Eaddy speaks candidly, sharing the funny and sometimes crazy experiences that led to his band programs’ success.

Welcome to Tales From the Band Room. Today, we learn my mantra, “Shut Up & Teach!” As educators, it’s our job to take what’s given to us and make the best of every situation. This episode shares strategies to help you and your students no matter the issues you come across, and we learn there is no situation where complaining will change your circumstance. In any case, it’s all about creating positive experiences for our students and making a way for these experiences to happen.
